RNC Investigating After Stolen Vehicle Used in Robbery

(St. John’s, NL), February 17, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has made an arrest following a report of a stolen vehicle in St. John’s that was used in the commission of a robbery.

Early Saturday morning patrol officers responded to a report of a robbery in Cowan Heights where a vehicle was used to gain access to the business.

With the assistance of the public, multiple sightings of the suspect vehicle travelling at high rates of speed were reported following the robbery. During one of these sightings the suspect vehicle struck a RNC patrol unit. No injuries were reported by the officer involved.

The suspect vehicle was later located by patrol officers in Goulds. Officers deployed a tire deflation device and the suspect vehicle fled.

The suspect vehicle was located abandoned and around Noon the suspect was arrested following another traffic stop. The driver remains in custody with charges pending and will appear in court at a later date.
