RNC Investigate Violent Altercation in Labrador City

(Labrador City, NL), August 29, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) are investigating a violent altercation which occurred in Labrador City yesterday.

On Sunday, August 28, 2022, at approximately 11:00 am, RNC OPS responded to a report of a disturbance that had just occurred at an IGA location on Humber Avenue in Labrador City. On arrival, officers located two males who were believed to be involved in the altercation. Both males had sustained non-life threatening injuries. The injured males were transported to Labrador Grenfell Health by ambulance in order to obtain medical assistance.

The investigation in to this altercation remains active with RNC OPS in Labrador West, and officers are seeking any witnesses, or any video in the area prior to 11:00 am on Sunday, August 28, 2022.

At this stage in the investigation, officers have arrested and charged a 40-year-old male from Labrador City with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The accused has been released to appear in Provincial Court on October 11, 2022.
