RNC Investigate Stabbing in Downtown St. John’s

(St. John’s, NL), September 21, 2020 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crime Unit (MCU) are investigating a stabbing, which occurred in the downtown area of St. John’s early Sunday morning.

Sunday morning, September 20, 2020, at approximately 3:45 am, members of RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a report of a disturbance in downtown St. John’s in the area of Adelaide Street. A short time after arrival, officers located a 23-year-old man who had sustained injuries consistent with stab wounds. The man attended a hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Reports indicate that a verbal altercation occurred; a group of men then assaulted the victim and fled the area. At this stage, there is no indication that the victim previously knew the group of men. There have not been any arrests made, as this investigation remains active.
