RNC Investigate Springdale Street Stabbing 

(St. John’s, NL), February 27, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crime Unit is investigating a stabbing.

On Saturday, February 24, 2018 at approximately 12:00 pm the RNC received a report of a stabbing at a residence on Springdale Street in St. John’s. Officers from Operational Patrol Services, the Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Services responded to this call and determined that the victim, a 34-year-old male from St. John’s, had been conveyed to St. Clare’s Hospital for treatment. The male received serious injuries, however they are not believed to be life-threatening at this time. It has not yet been determined whether the victim and the suspect were known to one another.

It is believed that the victim of the stabbing was conveyed to St. Clare’s Hospital in a vehicle. The RNC is requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the driver and/or occupants of this vehicle. An image of the vehicle has been obtained from a CCTV camera and is attached to this release.

The RNC Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate this incident and is asking anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to call the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
