RNC Drug Unit Seize Quantity of Illicit Drugs and Weapons in Metro

(St. John’s, NL), January 6, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Drug Investigation Unit (DIU) make arrest following drug trafficking investigation in metro region.

In late November, 2022 the RNC DIU launched an investigation into street level drug trafficking and weapons offences in the metro region.

On December 16, 2022 The RNC DIU executed a search warrant at a residence in the west end of St. John’s. The warrant resulting in the seizure of drugs, paraphernalia, and other items connected to drug trafficking.

Some notable items seized during the execution of the warrant include the following:

  • An undisclosed amount of cocaine
  • Approximately 500 prescription pills (including Ritalin, Dilaudid and Morphine)
  • $3760 in Canadian Currency
  • A Shotgun
  • A handgun
  • Ammunition
  • Two stun guns
  • Bear mace and pepper spray
  • Plated body armor
  • A money counter

This investigation resulted in the arrests of two individuals, a 34-year-old male and a 34-year-old female, both from St. John’s.

The 34-year-old male was arrested on two outstanding warrants; he was held for court. The 34-year-old female was arrested and released pending further investigation by the DIU.

The approximate street value of the drugs seized is $15,000
