RNC Continues Road Safety Activities

(St. John’s, NL), February 2, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services led a road safety blitz on the Trans-Canada Highway near Conception Bay South on Monday.

On Monday, February 1, 2021, the RNC Operational Patrol Services collaborated with RNC Traffic Services, Royal Canadian Mounted Police of NL (RCMP-NL), and Highway Enforcement Officers for a road safety blitz focusing on vehicle inspections. Officers issued 116 tickets related to various offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and the HTA Licensing and Equipment Regulations.

Some of the offences include:

  • Unregistered vehicle
  • Unsecure load
  • No commercial inspection
  • Overweight
  • Broken frame
  • No license plate
  • Using a cellular device
  • No seat belt
  • Window tint
  • Mechanical deficiency

The RNC Traffic Services urge motorists to ensure cargo is secured while using our roadways, and to ensure your vehicle meets all requirements to operate within our communities. The RNC traffic initiative will continue its work throughout our community, focusing on every aspect of road safety, striving to change unsafe behaviour. Our officers wish to thank motorists for their cooperation and for keeping them safe out on the roadside.
