RNC Confirm Identity of Human Remains in Paradise

(St. John’s, NL), November 2, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have confirmed the identity of human remains located in Paradise on Monday.

On Monday, October 31, 2022, at approximately 10:50 am, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS), Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) responded to the wooded area near Three Island Pond in Paradise following a report of potential human remains in the area. On arrival, officers located the scene and confirmed the human remains. Officers contained the area for investigative examination.

Through consultation with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and support from RNC FIS, the RNC CID have confirmed the human remains to be Trevor HAMLYN (1985-05-24) of Paradise. HAMLYN was reported missing on June 19, 2018, he was last seen days prior, on Saturday, June 16.

The investigation in to the cause of HAMLYN’S death is ongoing with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, supported by the services of an anthropologist and archaeologist at the scene. The RNC have remained at the scene to maintain continuity and support the investigation.
