RNC Charge Man Following Explosives Threat

(St. John’s, NL), December 19, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has charged a 42 year old man with threats following an incident at Health Sciences Center (HSC) in St. John’s.

This morning, just before 7:00 am, the RNC received a report of an explosives threat at HSC. A man is alleged to have entered the medial facility and state that he had explosives on him. When police arrived, the area was cordoned off and officers were able to arrest the man without any further incident. There were no explosives located on the man or in the facility and an all-clear was given to staff at HSC who resumed normal operations just before 8:00 am.

The 42-year-old Mount Pearl man has been charged with Uttering Threats to Cause Death, Uttering Threats to Cause Property Damage, and Causing a Disturbance. He was conveyed to the City Lockup and will appear at Provincial Court in St. John’s later today.
