RNC Arrest Impaired Driver in Torbay

(St. John’s, NL), September 6, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) arrested an impaired driver in Torbay yesterday afternoon.

On Monday, September 5, 2022, at approximately 4:30 pm, RNC OPS responded to a report of property damage in progress, involving a male suspect at a residence on Reardon’s Lane in Torbay. While officers travelled North on Torbay Road, on route to the incident, they were informed that the male suspect had stolen a vehicle, and was headed South on Torbay Road. Responding officers located the stolen vehicle at a property on Torbay Road in Torbay a short time later. The male suspect was also located and identified in the area.

As a result of the investigation in to the event, a 37-year-old male from Torbay was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, impaired driving, impaired driving over 80 mg of alcohol, theft of a motor vehicle, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and court order breaches. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
