RNC Address Planned Protest Activities

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is closely monitoring any ‘Freedom Convoy 2022’ events involving a large number of vehicles travelling through communities across the province this weekend. Our officers will be present as necessary to direct traffic, minimize disruptions and promote public safety. We expect there will be impact to traffic on a number of roadways and streets. As we have more information, we will continue to provide updates through our social media channels.

We remind all attendees and members of the public to follow applicable public health guidelines related to COVID-19, municipal/city by-laws, the Highway Traffic Act and any other related legislation. Our approach always starts with communication and education; however, we will appropriately engage enforcement as necessary. Vehicles and people must make room for emergency vehicles to pass through. We advise that everyone planning to participate in these events take responsibility for your actions, and to promote a safe and healthy community. We ask members of the public to expect and be prepared for traffic delays that these events may cause.

Any member of the community who observes non-compliance with laws in place to keep us all safe, please contact the RNC at 729-8000.
