Police Make Historic Seizure in Metro

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), December 3, 2020 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Drug Investigation Unit in partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have made the single largest seizure of cocaine in the province’s history.

On Wednesday evening, December 2, 2020, officers with the RNC Drug Investigative Unit and the RCMP attended St. John’s International Airport and seized 13.7 kilograms of cocaine, as well as 4500 blots of acid. The total street level value of these illicit products is approximately seven million dollars.

Investigators have made one arrest in connection with the seizure, and charges are pending. Police in our province remain dedicated to removing harmful illicit substances and its enterprise from the streets of our communities.
