(St. John’s, NL), November 22, 2023 –Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) officers removed multiple Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offenders from the province’s roads overnight.
On Tuesday (Nov. 21) at 9:50 p.m., patrol officers conducted a traffic safety stop with a vehicle in the center-city of St. John’s. Officers determined that the operator had a suspended driver’s license, did not have motor vehicle insurance, and the vehicle was unregistered. The 20-year-old male operator was charged and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
At 11:30 p.m. patrol officers observed a vehicle travelling 152 km/hr on Peacekeeper’s Way in Conception Bay South (CBS). The vehicle was stopped a short time later by the officers and the 48-year-old male operator was issued a ticket for speeding in excess of 50 km over the speed limit and his vehicle was impounded.
At 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 22) patrol officers conducted a traffic safety stop with a vehicle in center-city St. John’s. As a result of an investigation, it was determined that the operator was driving with a blood alcohol concentration in excess of the 50 mg, contrary to the HTA. The 35-year-old male operator was issued a seven-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded.
