Dangerous Driver Removed from the Road in Metro

(St. John’s, NL), August 10, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) made an arrest following an incident of dangerous driving this afternoon.

On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at approximately 12:45 pm, RNC OPS initiated a traffic stop with a motorcycle which was speeding on Sagona Avenue in Mount Pearl. The operator of the motorcycle failed to stop for police, increasing to a high rate of speed, weaving through traffic to flee from police.

A short time later, officers with RNC OPS observed the suspect vehicle arrive and park at a residence in Paradise. The operator, a 24-year-old man from Paradise, was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police. He was issued a ticket for operating a vehicle without an insurance policy, and the vehicle was impounded. The accused was released to appear in court on a later date.
