Arrest Made Following Downtown Assault

(St. John’s, NL) August 2, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have charged a man in connection with an assault in downtown St. John’s overnight.

On Friday (August 2) just after 2 a.m., RNC Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a disturbance in progress in the area of Water Street. Responding officers determined an assault had occurred, and the man responsible was still in the area. A short time later, officers located the suspect and he was arrested.

The 44-year-old man of St. John’s was charged following an investigation into the event. He was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court in relation to charges of assault, assault with a weapon and failure to comply with a release order.
