RNC Increasing Enforcement as Part of ‘Operation Impact’

(St. John’s, NL) October 11, 2024 – On this Thanksgiving long weekend and with an anticipated increase in traffic, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is taking additional steps to keep our roadways safe.

‘Operation Impact’, taking place from October 11-14, is a national public awareness campaign to help prevent collisions, save lives, and reduce injuries on our roads. Through checkpoints and radar enforcement, RNC officers throughout the province will be targeting impaired driving, as well as aggressive driving, distracted driving, and driving without a seat belt.

This year’s theme is ‘Safety is in MY hands’ – an effort to remind all drivers that they have a role to play in ensuring all motorists make it home to their families.

The RNC continues to urge the public to report unsafe driving behaviours directly to police by calling 911. To report anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
