Speeding Observed in West Coast Traffic Initiative

(Corner Brook, NL) October 1, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) issued over 130 speeding tickets in just three days in the Corner Brook region.

Traffic Services members from the Northeast Avalon teamed up with Corner Brook Operational Patrol Services members to conduct speed enforcement in eight different areas from Pasadena, to both sides of the Bay of Islands. Enforcement targeted the Trans Canada, in addition to school, and construction zones.

In total, 132 Summary Offence Tickets were issued, primarily for speeding. One driver had their vehicle seized and license suspended for driving 168 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. Other infractions included open cannabis in a vehicle, unregistered vehicles, expired licenses, and tinted plate protectors.
