Official Dedication – Memorial on Parade Commemorative Parkette

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), September 19, 2017 – On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at 11 a.m., the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) will host the Memorial on Parade Parkette dedication ceremony.

In attendance will be: Chief Joseph A. Boland along with The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Q.C., Minister & Attorney General, Department of Justice and Public Safety, Dr. Susan Dyer Knight, Chancellor, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and Mr. Robert LeMessurier, Chair, Memorial on Parade Commemorative Parkette Committee.

This event represents the completion of Phase Two of the project. Phase One was completed in September, 2014, with the mounting of a commemorative plaque at the main entrance, honouring those who paid the supreme sacrifice in WWI and for whom the building and Memorial University were named.

The memorial ‘parkette’ comprises of three history boards, engraved crests for each of the institutions set in granite and engraved granite paving stones, forming the base of the memorial, which was and is continuing to be sold as part of the fundraising for the project.

The public and the media are welcomed to join us as we honour the past, present and future of Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Memorial Campus.
