RNC Investigating Report of a Male with a Weapon in Mt. Pearl

(St. John’s, NL), October 5, 2017 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating a report that a male was seen with a weapon near a school in Mt. Pearl.                                                                                  

On October 5, 2017 at approximately 1:30 pm members of the RNC Patrol Services Division and Police Dog Services responded to a report that a male was seen with a weapon near St. Peter’s Junior High School, located on Munden Drive in Mt. Pearl. Police were advised that the male was a teenager and that he allegedly had a handgun. No information was received to suggest that this male had made any threats involving the handgun. Nonetheless, as a precautionary measure, several schools in the area took measures to ensure student safety based upon advice provided by the RNC.

 As a result of the police investigation the male who was alleged to be in possession of the handgun was located. It was determined that the handgun was a toy.
