RNC Introduces Newest Member of Mounted Unit

(ST. JOHN’S, NL) October 18, 2017 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is extremely excited to introduce the newest member of its Mounted Unit – Harvey.

This afternoon at 1:00pm, Chief Joseph Boland will formally accept the reins for a new horse to join Dobbin and Dr. Rich in the RNC’s Mounted Unit. Harvey, a six year old black male Percheron Cross, (half Percheron, half Quarter Horse) is a gift from A. Harvey & Company Limited. This horse is known as a Draft Horse and was born and raised in New Brunswick. He was last measured at 16.2 hands high and weighs approximately 1600lbs.

This short ceremony will provide the RNC an opportunity to introduce Harvey to the media and the public for the first time as well as to thank Mrs. Susan Patten and the Patten family for this very generous donation.

The media are invited to attend this ceremony which will commence in front of Government House on Military Road in St. John’s at 12:45pm today. Following the passing of the reins, Harvey’s stall plaque will be officially unveiled inside of the stables.
