RNC Corner Brook Region Asking Motorists to be Aware of “Blue Zone” Parking

(Corner Brook, NL), January 25, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Corner Brook Region is reminding the public of changes to the Designated Mobility Impaired Parking Regulations under the Highway Traffic Act.

Amendments to the Designated Mobility Impaired Parking Regulations under the Newfoundland and Labrador Highway Traffic Act became effective on January 3, 2018. The fine of $100 for illegally parking in a designated mobility impaired parking space (blue zone) has increased to a minimum fine of $400 and a maximum fine of $700.

Motorists are reminded to adhere to signage indicating that a parking space is designated as a mobility impaired parking space (blue zone).  The RNC Corner Brook Region has been actively monitoring these parking spaces and will continue to enforce the Regulations by issuing Summary Offence Tickets for vehicles not in compliance.

If a member of the general public in the Corner Brook Region observes a vehicle illegally parked in a designated mobility impaired parking space (blue zone) they are asked to contact the RNC at 637-4100 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can also provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers website at www.nl.crimestopppers.com.
