RNC Investigating Homicide in Labrador City

(St. John’s, NL), April 26, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Labrador West Region is investigating an early morning homicide.

This morning at approximately 3:00am, Patrol Officers from our Labrador City Detachment, Labrador West Region, responded to a residence on Pine Avenue in the town of Labrador City after receiving a report that two men had been involved in an altercation. When officers arrived on scene they discovered a deceased male inside of the residence. A 30 year old man, who was also present in the home, was arrested by officers and has been charged with Murder. He will appear at Provincial Court in Labrador City this afternoon.

Investigative teams from St. John’s and Corner Brook are on their way to Labrador City this morning to assist in the investigation. Investigators are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death as well as positively identify the male victim.

Investigators believe that the victim and the accused are known to one another and there is no threat to public safety.
