(St. John’s, NL), May 25, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit (GIU) is continuing to seek the assistance of the general public in locating numerous pieces of stolen artwork.

On Thursday, May 17, 2018 at approximately 9:00 p.m., the RNC received a report of a residential break & enter in the west end area of St. John’s whereby numerous pieces of valuable artwork were stolen.  The artwork was stolen from the home sometime between April 18, 2018 and May 17, 2018.

Today, the RNC’s General Investigative Unit recovered 14 pieces of the stolen art work which has since been returned to the owner. This recovery was as a direct result of the media release made on Thursday afternoon and we are thanking the public and the media for their assistance.  At least 12 other paintings are still missing and the investigation is ongoing. The RNC is reminding the public that possession of stolen property is a criminal offence.

The RNC General Investigation Unit is seeking the assistance of the general public. Anyone who has any information pertaining to the whereabouts of the stolen art work, or who is responsible for the break, enter and theft is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can now provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
