UPDATE – RNC Search for Significant Quantity of Valuable Stolen Artwork

(St. John’s, NL), June 6, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit (GIU) is seeking the assistance of the general public in locating numerous pieces of stolen artwork.

On Thursday, May 17, 2018 at approximately 9:00 p.m., the RNC received a report of a residential break & enter in the west end area of St. John’s whereby numerous pieces of valuable artwork were stolen.  The artwork was stolen from the home sometime between April 18, 2018 and May 17, 2018.

On May 25th, Investigators recovered 14 pieces of the stolen artwork which was returned to the owner. Today, two additional pieces were recovered, however, at least 10 pieces of artwork remain unaccounted for:

  1. Still Life (Oil on Canvass) – Helen Parsons Sheppard
  2. Landscape (Oil on Canvass) – Robert Wood
  3. Under the Tower (Oil on Canvas) – Jim Miller
  4. Book Stalls – Notre Dame – Antoine Blanchard
  5. Alice Lacey – Limited Edition Print – David Blackwood
  6. Ballerina (Oil on Canvas) – G. Lerin
  7. Madonna (Italy)
  8. Signal Hill Print – Jim Miller
  9. Chandelier – N/A
  10. Transfiguration Bronze – Luben Bokyov

The RNC General Investigation Unit is seeking the assistance of the general public. Anyone who has any information pertaining to the whereabouts of the stolen art work, or who is responsible for the break, enter and theft is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can now provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
