RNC Officers “Tour the Rock” for MADD Canada

(St. John’s, NL), September 13, 2018 – Members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are cycling across the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador in support of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada.

According to Statistics Canada, nearly three Canadians are killed daily in alcohol and/or drug related motor vehicle collisions on Canadian roads. The RNC works closely with community members and stakeholders every day to enhance road safety and educate the public on the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Today, eight RNC officers left Port Aux Basques on a 10-day journey across the island by bicycle to help raise both funds and awareness for the extraordinary efforts of MADD Canada.  The team will arrive in St. John’s on Friday, September 21, 2018. A small return parade is scheduled to begin at the corner of Hamilton Ave & Lemarchant Road at 3:00pm that day. The parade will be followed by a short cheque presentation by the RNC to MADD Canada.

The public is encouraged to follow the team on social media: Twitter –  @RNCTourTheRock and on Facebook –  RNCTourTheRock2018.
