PUBLIC SAFETY ADVISORY – LABRADOR WEST REGION

(St. John’s, NL), October 22, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Labrador West Region is advising the public that annual freezing has begun on local lakes and ponds.

Labrador West Search and Rescue, in conjunction with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary would like to remind Labrador West residents that the annual freeze up has begun and local lakes and ponds in the area are not yet safe to venture upon at this time. Parents are encouraged to speak with their children and remind them that thin ice is not always easily detected and open water may still be present under the snow covering.

While you are outside enjoying nature, keep safety in mind.
