UPDATE – RNC Make Arrest in Labrador City Robbery

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), November 16, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Labrador West Division has made an arrest in connection with a recent armed robbery.

On Saturday, November 10, 2018, at approximately 9:00 pm, RNC officers in Labrador City responded to a report of an armed robbery at Lake Side Convenience on Maple Crescent. Witnesses reported that a lone male entered the store with his face concealed, armed with a firearm, and demanded cash. The male fled the area prior to police arrival with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries as a result of this robbery.

A search warrant was executed by the RNC at a residence in Labrador City last night. As a result of that search and subsequent investigation, 27 year old Johnathan PAYNE was arrested. PAYNE has been charged with: Armed Robbery, Disguise with Intent, various firearm related offences, and breaches of court orders; He will appear at Provincial Court in Wabush today.
