(St. John’s, NL), December 31, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s (RNC) Major Crime Unit has charged a man in connection with an assault on Groves Road in St. John’s.
Yesterday morning, just before 6:30 am, officers with RNC’s Operational Patrol Services Division, Criminal Investigation Division, and Forensic Identification Services responded to a residence on Groves Road in St. John’s in relation to a report of an assault with a weapon.
When officers arrived, they located a fifty four year old man who had sustained non-life threatening injuries. The man was transported to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
A twenty four year old man was arrested on scene. He has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. The accused and the victim are known to one another and investigators do not believe this to be a random act of violence.
