RNC Issue Advisory on Counterfeit Bills

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), January 23, 2019 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Economic Crime Unit is issuing a public advisory regarding counterfeit Canadian and United States of America one hundred dollar bills.

The Economic Crime Unit of the RNC has received complaints regarding counterfeit Canadian and United States of America one hundred dollar bills. Suspects are reportedly passing these counterfeit Canadian and American bills at local businesses to make purchases and to receive change. The Economic Crime Unit ask that businesses examine any one hundred dollar bill currency they receive for inconsistencies, such as other languages written on the bills or any other alterations that may have been made to the bills.

The RNC Economic Crime Unit is actively investigating this matter and is seeking the assistance of the general public. Anyone that may have any information is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
