RNC Investigating Attempted Theft Using Heavy Equipment

(St. John’s, NL), July 16, 2019 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating an attempted theft with the use of heavy equipment.

On Sunday, July 14, 2019, just before 5:00 am, members of the RNC’s Operational Patrol Services Division, Forensic Identification Section and Criminal Investigation Division responded to a bank on Commonwealth Avenue, Mt. Pearl, in relation to an alarm. On arrival, officers observed significant damage to the side of the building where the ATM was located. The suspects were not successful in their attempt to remove the ATM. Responding officers located heavy equipment on the scene.

The RNC General Investigation Unit is actively investigating this incident, and are looking for any CCTV or dash camera footage in the noted area.
