RNC Operation Requiem Leads to Seizure and Arrests

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), October 4, 2019 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Drug Investigation Unit, with the assistance of Canada Post Postal Inspectors, has made a drug seizure and arrests in connection with Operation Requiem.

The RNC Drug Investigation Unit (DIU) initiated Operation Requiem in response to the trafficking of illicit drugs in our community. In connection with this operation, on September 28th, 2019, the RNC DIU descended on a residence in the center city and were able to seize two kilograms of cocaine. A 32 year old man was arrested at the scene, but was released for further investigation. Charges are pending on that arrest.

Today, shortly before noon, a 28 year old man was arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) in connection with Operation Requiem. This man has been held to appear in provincial court.
