RNC Investigating Assault on Columbus Drive

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), June 26, 2020 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are investigating an assault, which reportedly occurred on Columbus Drive in St. John’s.

On Thursday, June 25, 2020, at approximately 10:30 pm, members of RNC operational patrol services division responded to a report of an assault, which occurred on Columbus Drive in St. John’s. Reports indicate that while stopped in a vehicle at the intersection of Columbus Drive at Wishingwell Road, the passenger of the vehicle was assaulted by a man who had exited another vehicle stopped at the intersection. The man had reportedly exited what was believed to be a red Toyota sedan. Following the assault, the man returned to the suspect vehicle and left the area. The man who was assaulted sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The man responsible for the assault is described to be about 5 feet and six to eight inches tall, slender build, and approximately 25 years old. He appeared to have light brown hair, with tattoos on his right arm that appeared black in colour.

The RNC are seeking any witnesses and anyone with dash camera or CCTV footage in the noted area around the time of the incident.
