RNC Investigating Theft of Firearms in St. John’s

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), July 17, 2020 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are investigating a theft of firearms from a vehicle in the east end of St. John’s.

On Thursday, July 17, 2020, shortly before noon, members of RNC operational patrol services responded to a hotel in the east end St. John’s in relation to a report of a theft from a vehicle. On arrival, officers received information that four firearms, which were stored in the vehicle, were missing. In addition, 300 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and 15 empty firearm magazines were taken from the vehicle. The theft is believed to have occurred between the hours of midnight and 9:30 am.

The stolen firearms are handguns which were stored in a hard cover Pelican case, and are described as follows:

  • Sig Sauer 1911R – 45 caliber Pistol
  • Sig Sauer M17 – 9mm Lugar Pistol
  • CZ 75 SP01 Shadow 2 – 9mm Lugar Pistol
  • Glock 19x – 9mm Lugar Pistol
