RNC Locate Suspect After Flight from Police

(Corner Brook, NL), July 29, 2020 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) located the suspect following an incident of flight from police in Corner Brook on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at approximately 9:40 a.m., members of RNC Operational Patrol Services attempted a traffic safety stop with a vehicle in the Country Road area of Corner Brook. The vehicle did not stop for police and proceeded to flee the area. Officers did not pursue, and continued to patrol the area. A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle parked on a commercial property and observed the operator leaving the vehicle. The operator was taken in to custody without incident.

Subsequent to an investigation, a 33 year old woman was charged with flight from police, as well as the following highway traffic act offences:

  • Driving without due care or attention
  • Fail to stop at a stop sign
  • Operating a vehicle without an insurance policy
  • Failure to produce vehicle registration
  • Failure to notify registrar of transfer of vehicle ownership
  • No accompanying driver (Novice driver)
  • No novice driver sign displayed

The suspect vehicle was impounded from the scene. The accused will appear in provincial court in October of 2020.
