RNC Make Arrest Following Assault in Paradise

(St. John’s, NL), September 15, 2020 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have arrested a man in connection with an assault in Paradise.

On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, shortly after 3:30 am, members of RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) and Police Dog Services (PDS) responded to a report of an assault, which occurred in a residential area of Paradise. On arrival, officers observed that 35-year-old man had sustained injuries consistent with a stabbing. The suspect, a 22-year-old man known to the victim, had fled the area prior to police arrival. Efforts of OPS and PDS to locate the suspect in the area were not successful.

At approximately 11:00 am, investigators were able to get in contact with the suspect, locating him at his residence in St. John’s. The 22-year-old man was taken in to custody without incident. He has been held to appear in provincial court, charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and court order breaches.
