RNC Make Arrest in Connection with Stabbing

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), November 16, 2020 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crime Unit (MCU) arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a stabbing which occurred on George Street.

Shortly after 12:45 am on November 1, 2020, members of RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to the area of George Street in St. John’s, following reports of an assault on the street. A man who had sustained injuries had left the area in a taxi prior to police arrival. That man was located at a hospital, where he was treated for injuries consistent with a stabbing.

As a result of an investigation carried by the RNC MCU, a 23-year-old man from St. John’s was taken in to custody on Friday evening, November 13, 2020. The man has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Breach of Probation. He was held to appear in provincial court in St. John’s.
