RNC Investigating Arson in West End of Capital

(St. John’s, NL), May 12, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit (GIU) are investigating arson which occurred in the west end of St. John’s last week.

On Friday morning, May 7, 2021, at approximately 6:30 am, officers with the RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to the west end of Empire Avenue in St. John’s following reports of a vehicle fire. On arrival, St. John’s Regional Fire Department were on the scene working to extinguish a fire involving multiple vehicles on a commercial property in the area. The vehicles had sustained significant damage as result of the incident.

Investigators believe that the fire was started at around 6:00 am on Friday morning. Three males described to be in their twenties were seen fleeing the area shortly after that time.
