RNC Investigating Afternoon Armed Robbery in Metro

(St. John’s, NL), May 20, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit (GIU) are investigating an armed robbery which occurred in St. John’s over the weekend.

On Saturday, May 15, 2021, at approximately 3:20 pm, officers with the RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) and Police Dog Service (PDS) and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) responded to a service station on the south end of Torbay Road in St. John’s in relation to a report of an armed robbery which had just occurred. A suspect entered the business and threatened the cashier, demanding cash. After obtaining cash, the suspect exited the store and fled in the direction of Kenna’s Hill. This investigation remains active and no arrests have been made at this stage.

The suspect is described to be a male, about five feet and nine inches tall with a medium build, and believed to be 30 to 35 years of age. He wore a green jacket with a yellow stripe along the shoulder and arm, blue jeans, a black ball cap, a black face mask, and black boots or shoes. The suspect also has tattooing visible on his left hand.
