RNC Investigating Fatal Collision in Pouch Cove

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), July 5, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Accident Investigation (AI) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in Pouch Cove.

On Sunday, July 4, 2021, shortly before 1:00 am, members of RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) and Accident Investigation (AI) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Main Road in Pouch Cove. On arrival, officers located two vehicles involved in the collision just north of Vale Drive, a black Honda Civic and a white Hyundai Santa Fe. Ambulance Department and Pouch Cove Fire Department were on scene.

A 16-year-old male occupant of the Honda Civic sedan succumbed to injuries sustained as a result of the collision, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another male occupant of the Honda sedan sustained serious injuries, for which he was taken to the Health Science Center (HSC) for care. The third male occupant of the Honda sedan was transported to HSC to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. There were no injuries reported from occupants of the Hyundai SUV. Accident investigators continue to investigate the events that led to this collision on Main Road in Pouch Cove.

The RNC sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
