Convenience Store Theft Results In Multiple Charges

(St. John’s, NL), August 11, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a theft at a St. John’s convenience store on Tuesday, resulting in multiple charges.

On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at around 2:20 pm, The RNC OPS responded to a report of a theft at a convenience store on Hamilton Avenue in St. John’s. A male had entered the store, selected two dozen beer, then fled the business on foot. As officers responded, another call for service was received related to a disturbance in the area of Richmond Street.

Responding officers located the suspect at the intersection of Richmond Street and Warbury Street, proceeding to take the male in to custody without incident. As a result of an investigation in to the event, the 30-year-old man from St. John’s was charged with theft, uttering threats, and breach of court orders. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
