RNC Patrol Officer Stops Vehicle Engaged in Stunting

(St. John’s, NL), August 12, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) issue tickets and make arrest after responding to a report of erratic driving.

On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at approximately 10:10 pm, RNC OPS responded to a report of erratic driving in the area of Waterford Valley High School on Topsail Road in St. John’s. On arrival to the area, an RNC patrol officer observed a vehicle doing donuts, referred to as stunting. The vehicle came to a stop moments later, parking near the school. The operator was identified by the officer, at which time the officer confirmed that the operator of the vehicle was operating with a suspended driver’s license. In addition, an arrest warrant was in effect in connection with a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Newfoundland and Labrador (RCMP-NL) investigation.

The operator of the vehicle, a 19-year-old man from St. John’s, was placed under arrest in relation to the warrant for his arrest. He was issued summary offence tickets for stunting and operating a motor vehicle while suspended. The vehicle was impounded in connection with the Highway Traffic Act infractions. The man was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court in connection with the RCMP-NL matter.
