RNC Lay Charges After Two Armed Robberies in CBS

(St. John’s, NL), September 1, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have arrested a male in connection with two armed robberies in Conception Bay South (CBS) on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at approximately 1:25 pm, officers with the RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) Police Dog Service (PDS) and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) responded to a service station on CBS Highway in the Foxtrap area of CBS in relation to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. A lone suspect had entered the business and approached the cashier presenting a weapon. The suspect obtained some cash, then proceeded to exit the store and flee the area.

At approximately 4:15 am, RNC OPS were called to a second armed robbery in the CBS area at a service station near the intersection of Topsail Road and CBS Highway. A suspect, described to be male, approached the cashier with a weapon, demanding cash and cigarettes. The suspect obtained some cash and cigarettes, then proceeded to flee the establishment.

As a result of the investigation in to the events, a 30-year-old male from CBS was arrested yesterday evening in St. John’s. He has been charged with the armed robberies, as well as possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failure to comply with court orders. The male was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
