RNC Make Arrest For Theft And Weapons Offence

(St. John’s, NL), September 3, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a theft at a St. John’s grocery store resulting in the arrest of a male for theft and weapons offences.

On Thursday, September 2, 2021, at around 3:00 pm, The RNC OPS responded to a report of a theft in progress at a grocery store on Blackmarsh Road in St. John’s. Responding officers were informed that the suspect is still on site, and is believed to be carrying a weapon.

On arrival, responding officers located the suspect inside the business, and placed the individual under arrest without incident.

As a result of an investigation in to the event, a 36-year-old male from St. John’s has been charged with theft, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and failure to comply with court orders. The male was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
