RNC Make Arrest In Connection With Sexual Assault

(St. John’s, NL), November 18, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Child Abuse and Sexual Assault (CASA) Unit have made an arrest in connection with historical sexual violence in St. John’s.

On August 16, 2021, the RNC Operational Patrol Services received a report of sexual assault involving a child. The report indicated the event of sexual violence occurred approximately six years prior at a residence in the center city of St. John’s. The RNC CASA Unit was engaged to carry out an investigation.

As a result of an investigation in to the report, a 22-year-old male was arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and unlawfully making sexually explicit material available to a child. The accused was a youth at the time of the offences, and has been released from custody to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.
