(ST. JOHN’S, NL), December 6, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Accident Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) accident, which occurred in Goulds on Saturday morning.

On Saturday, December 4, 2021, at approximately 3:30 am, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) and Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) responded to a serious ATV accident near the Robert E Howlett Memorial Drive in the Goulds area of St. John’s. A female who was believed to be operating the ATV was transported to the Health Science Centre (HSC) with serious injuries. The 20-year-old female from St. John’s was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after arrival. The RNC sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Investigators believe the ATV left the area of Howlett’s Line, East of Robert E Howlett Memorial Drive, at approximately 1:30 am, and was located adjacent to the Robert E Howlett Memorial Drive at Howlett’s Line shortly before emergency services were contacted at 3:30 am.

The investigation is ongoing, and the RNC Accident Investigators request that witnesses, or anyone with dash camera or CCTV footage in the area of Howlett’s Line, Robert E Howlett Memorial Drive, and the surrounding area contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
