RNC Investigating Fatal ATV Accident

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), December 6, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Accident Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) accident, which occurred in Goulds on Saturday morning.

On Saturday, December 4, 2021, at approximately 3:30 am, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) and Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) responded to a serious ATV accident near the Robert E Howlett Memorial Drive in the Goulds area of St. John’s. A female who was believed to be operating the ATV was transported to the Health Science Centre (HSC) with serious injuries. The 20-year-old female from St. John’s was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after arrival. The RNC sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Investigators believe the ATV left the area of Howlett’s Line, East of Robert E Howlett Memorial Drive, at approximately 1:30 am, and was located adjacent to the Robert E Howlett Memorial Drive at Howlett’s Line shortly before emergency services were contacted at 3:30 am.
