RNC Make Arrest Following Disturbance in Labrador West

(Labrador West NL), January 12, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services arrested a female in Labrador West following response to a disturbance on Monday night.

On Monday, January 10, 2022, at approximately 10:10 pm, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a disturbance at a residence in Wabush. Responding officers were informed that a female who had been outside the home damaging property left the area in a vehicle.

Responding officers observed the suspect vehicle on the Trans-Labrador Highway en route to the call for service. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic safety stop, but the vehicle failed to stop, fleeing the area travelling at a high rate of speed.

Patrol officers attended the address of the female suspect. While parked outside of the residence, the officers observed the suspect vehicle approaching the area. The suspect vehicle stopped a short distance away, at which time the female operator exited the vehicle, attempting to flee on foot. Officers were able to take the female suspect in to custody without further incident.

As a result of an investigation in to these events, a 26-year-old female from Labrador City has been charged with property damage, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by over 80 mg of alcohol. The vehicle was impunded from the scene. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
