RNC Make Arrest Related to Impaired Driving in Labrador

(Labrador City, NL), January 31, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) arrested a male in connection with impaired driving in Labrador West on Friday night.

On Friday, January 28, 2022, at approximately 9:35 pm, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) conducted a traffic safety stop with pickup truck on the Trans-Labrador Highway. The officer administered a roadside screening device for suspicion of impairment by alcohol. Subsequently, the operator was placed under arrest in relation to impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

As a result of an investigation in to the event, a 42-year-old male from Quebec was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle by alcohol over 80 mg, and having open liquor in a motor vehicle. The male was also issued a driving suspension, and his vehicle was impounded from the scene. The accused was released from custody to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.
