RNC Drug Investigation Unit Make Arrest in Metro

(St. John’s, NL), March 23, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Drug Investigation Unit (DIU) made an arrest in connection to drug trafficking and weapons offences in St. John’s.

On Monday, March 21, 2022, officers with the RNC Drug Investigation Unit (DIU) arrested a man in St. John’s following an investigation into drug trafficking and weapons offences.

As a result of the investigation, and the execution of a search warrant, the RNC DIU have arrested 27-year-old Brandon TOBIN from St. John’s. TOBIN was arrested without incident and held to appear in Provincial Court on the following charges:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Careless use of Firearm
  • Unsafe Storage of Firearm
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Carrying concealed Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized.
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Breach of Release Order

Multiple items connected to the offences were seized, including a handgun, ammunition, a half kilogram of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. (photos attached)
