RNC Lay Charges Related to Historical Sexual Violence

(St. John’s, NL), June 14, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Child Abuse and Sexual Assault (CASA) Unit have laid charges following an investigation in to a historical sexual violence.

In September of 2021, the RNC received a report of multiple incidents of sexual assault, which occurred in Conception Bay South (CBS) from November 2018 to June 2020. The victim was a youth at the time of the offence. The RNC CASA Unit were engaged to investigate the report.

As a result of the investigation, on June 2nd, 2022, a 69-year-old male from CBS was charged with sexual interference, exposure of genitals, and sexual assault. The accused was released from custody on conditions, set to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.
