RNC Investigating Fatal Collision in St. John’s

(St. John’s, NL), June 17, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Accident Investigation Division are investigating a fatal collision, which occurred on Empire Avenue in St. John’s yesterday.

On Thursday, June 16, 2022, just after 5:00 pm, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to the scene of motor vehicle collision on Empire Avenue in St. John’s, west of Columbus Drive. On arrival, officers observed that a grey Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a motorcycle had been involved in the collision. Eastern Health Paramedics and St. John’s Regional Fire Department were also at the scene of the incident.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 21-year-old male from Glovertown, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the grey SUV was treated for minor injury.

The RNC extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

This investigation is ongoing with the RNC Accident Investigation Division, and officers are seeking any witnesses, or anyone with video footage in the area of the collision around the time of the event.
