RNC Make Arrest Related to Intimate Partner Violence in St. John’s

(St. John’s, NL), June 24, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has made an arrest following a response to a report of an assault in St. John’s overnight.

On Friday, June 24, 2022, at approximately 4:00 am, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a center-city apartment complex in St. John’s in relation to a report of an assault. On arrival, officers located a female with visible injuries. Officers determined that an assault had occurred earlier at another residence in St. John’s. The female attended the Health Science Centre to seek medical treatment.

Officers continued the investigation, attending a residence in the Airport Heights area of St. John’s. A male was located at the home, and officers were able to determine he was involved in events resulting in the female’s injuries. He was placed under arrest without incident.

As a result of the investigation, the 26-year-old male from St. John’s was charged with choking, assault causing bodily harm, assault, and uttering threats. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court in connection with the charges.
